Globe’s new real estate section – useful tool

The Globe and Mail lauched a new online feature today that will be useful to anyone interested in the Canadian residential real estate market.

Called the House Price Data Centre, the section displays data for major metropolitan areas across Canada with the ability to drill down to the neighborhood level, as well as Globe stories on real estate.

While the Data Centre won’t provide information on smaller communities like Prince Edward County, much of the housing demand in the County is derived demand, reflecting market conditions in the Toronto market in particular.

The Globe is using the Teranet-National Bank House Price Index which, as I covered earlier, is Canada’s most highly-regarded and accurate measure of home appreciation (depreciation).
