Is Canada more prepared than two years ago? Are you?

US Secretary of Defense Peter Hegseth announced yesterday (8 October, 2026) that for the first time in 70 years there will be a public execution in the US. Based on his orders, they will live stream the execution by firing squad of the Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan.

Watching the US empire implode socially, politically and in this case morally is like watching a train wreck where something horrible is happening but you can’t look away.

However, our attention on the frightening developments in the US diverts our energy from the more important issue: what are we as Canadians doing to prepare ourselves to deal with the consequences of US decay.

Look at the amount of time and energy which Canadians spend with (justifiable) indignant comments on US developments and compare it with the amount of discussion of what we are doing to get ready.

Governments at all levels need to prepare for the US threat, but so do communities and individuals.

Trump was re-elected two years ago. The has been visible progress at the national level to respond, but is our local community any more prepared today than it was two years ago? Are you and your family any more prepared today than you were two years ago?
